The National Institute for Newman Studies is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) corporation under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is governed by a Board of Trustees. A Supporting Council assists with fundraising and operational needs. The council staff consists of an Executive Director, a Knowledge Manager/Librarian, a Managing Editor of the NSJ, an Office Manager and an Office Assistant.
Since its inception in 2003, the National Institute for Newman Studies has become a comprehensive center for the study of the works, life, and influence of John Henry Cardinal Newman.
The Institute’s presence in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh has enhanced the educational and spiritual resources of the region. The Newman Research Library, with its Newman Knowledge Kiosk, ranks among the greatest resources for Newman-related material in the world. The Newman Studies Journal which first appeared in 2004, has become a respected theological publication. Visiting Newman Scholars interface with the local community and take their insights and discoveries back to their academic homes. Interest in Newman Studies is growing.
Friends of the National Institute for Newman Studies can offer their support in several ways:
- Make a donation for library purchases and book restoration.
- Fund the continued development of the Newman Knowledge Kiosk.
- Sponsor a Newman Scholarship.
- Underwrite the cost of publishing the Newman Studies Journal.
